Chloe's Story and LIFE-SAVING INFORMATION!

After developing a cough, we took Chloe to her vet where they prescribed a cough medicine for her.  

At the time, we were also using a wonderful LI veterinary pharmacy (for Chloe’s intestinal issue) that was far from our home, so in the interest of time, we agreed to go to a local pharmacy for her cough medicine.

THIS PROVED TO BE A FATAL MISTAKE.  

After the vet appointment, we drove straight to the pharmacy and 

I inquired as to what forms/flavors the cough medicine was offered in.  

I was told liquid and tablets.  

I decided on a steak flavored liquid instead of tablets, as I explained we sometimes had difficulties with Chloe taking tablets.

After struggling with the liquid, I called the pharmacy to inquire about the tablets explaining our difficulties with the liquid. I ordered the unflavored tablets.

We were not having success at first with the tablets, but with perseverance, (as the tablets were the only other option, as far as we knew), we had success by putting the tablets in Chloe’s food or vitamins.

I believed we were over the difficulties.

Unfortunately, one morning she woke up with a coughing fit and we rushed her to the animal hospital. Upon examination/x-rays, it was discovered she had fractured two ribs on her right side due to the coughing.  

I called the pharmacy AGAIN to see if they could flavor the tablets, hoping Chloe would take the tablets without her food.  

Unfortunately, she did not, so I called the pharmacy a 4th time, to have them DOUBLE CHECK if this medicine came in ANY OTHER FORM besides the tablets and liquid, as I did not like adding medicine to her food.

Apparently, there WERE other options that I was not presented with previously!

I purchased the trans-dermal cream.

WITHIN 3 DAYS OF STARTING THE CREAM, THE COUGH COMPLETELY STOPPED!!

• Unfortunately, Chloe could not recover from her injury, and less than a week from that point, she passed away.

Had we been presented with all options AT ANY POINT, Chloe would be here today.

We are looking to honor our little Chloe. Her life was cut short, and  WE DO NOT WANT HER DEATH TO BE IN VAIN!!!

It is our hope, that by sharing Chloe’s story, nobody else will have to  endure this heartache, and no pet will have to needlessly  suffer!

This situation was totally avoidable, had we been given all the available options and attention.  

She was thriving which makes this all the more unfathomable.  

The loss of a pet is heartbreaking enough. Nobody should have to struggle with knowing their pet’s death was caused by a trusted professional’s failure to communicate info/options!

If you need medication for your pet, please make sure you are using a VETERINARY pharmacy – there is a BIG DIFFERENCE!!!  

****** ALWAYS ask about different forms/flavors for your pet’s medication. Have them DOUBLE CHECK.  

YOUR PET’S LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT!!

****Most people are unaware (including the animal attorneys I spoke with) that a cream, or other forms of medication DO EXIST!!!!
